Avalon Europe is seeking skilled Onboard Engineers to join our crew and ensure the safe and efficient operation of our luxury river cruise ships. As an Onboard Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing all mechanical and electrical systems on board, including engines, generators, and other critical systems that ensure the comfort and safety of our guests and crew. Your role will involve routine inspections, troubleshooting, and responding to emergencies, making sure that all systems operate smoothly and efficiently.

Key responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems such as air conditioning, heating, waste disposal, and more. You will conduct routine inspections of pumps, valves, motors, and other equipment, as well as manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies. Your duties also involve monitoring fuel and water consumption, participating in safety drills, and collaborating closely with the Captain and other crew members to maintain the ship’s safety and operational standards. Your ability to address mechanical and electrical issues swiftly and effectively is crucial in maintaining a high standard of service on board.

To qualify for this position, you should have a high school diploma or equivalent, with vocational or technical training in marine engineering preferred. A minimum of 3 years of experience in marine engineering or a related field is required, along with a strong technical background in mechanical and electrical systems. You must be proficient in troubleshooting and repairs, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate a strong commitment to safety.
