The options you have.

Once you have decided that Avalon is a place you’d like to be part of, there are 2 ways to proceed: either via River Advice Recruitment or via Avalon Europe Recruitment Direct.

Applying via River Advice.

River Advice is currently the biggest provider of onboard and onshore crewing services in Europe, it successfully caters for numerous partner-companies. Their recruitment expends far and wide with a great number of partner Recruitment Agencies who support onboarding even from non-EU regions. If you apply for a job via River Advice, there are chances that you might still end up with Avalon, however it is not guaranteed. On the other hand, if it is the job you are after, your chances of getting employed are quite high as River Advice caters for 100+ ships. Avalon options are limited to availability with 13 ships in 2024 and 14 in 2025.

Applying via Avalon Direct.

If you apply to Avalon Europe directly, the chance of you ending up onboard of Avalon Waterways ships increases significantly. Should you apply from an EU country, the process is pretty straight forward, – we will get in touch with you and if all goes well, your application will then be forwarded to River Advice Recruiters for finalization. If you apply from a non-EU country, you will need to procure support from a local agency that River Advice works with. Please consider that VISA-related matters are handled by applicants directly, therefore, it is always easier and better to have a professional Recruitment Agency to guide you forward. With your application you may still request for a placement with Avalon, however due to VISA-related complexity and timing, the placement will depend on the availability.

Avalon will not adjust to you, – you need to adjust yourself to Avalon.

The same rule stands for any company you will ever join, so flexibility, accountability and tons of friendliness are your best friends and best companions; one quality that needs to be kept in check at all times is sensitivity as it will serve no purpose and will only stand in the way of your progress.

Life on board in general and Avalon Fleet in particular demands sacrifices.

Please consider this, – the job is quite hard, the hours are long (especially at the beginning when you need to invest your own time to learn company’s procedures and day-to-day tasks), the Team is diverse (various cultures, nationalities, backgrounds, religions, experiences), your home, your loved ones, your comfort zone are far away with a brand new place you need to adjust to… – no, it will not and cannot be easy. But it could be worth it! Avalon became a professional safe harbour and place of prosperity to 800+ boys and girls, Ladies and Gentlemen from all over the world; we have great Crew return rates with the majority authentically loving and enjoying the job that they do.

One day Avalon can become a place for your career elevation too, dear honourable Reader.
